Living by our values

Our Values define what we stand for and shape the way we work together across Calisen. They help us build an inclusive, high-performing culture where everyone can thrive, while guiding us towards our shared purpose of delivering a utilities system that is secure, flexible and works for everyone.

We put safety and wellbeing first

We take our duty seriously to create a safe working environment. We actively seek opportunities to improve safety and wellbeing. We challenge poor behaviour and recognise excellence.

We are one team

When we all work together, amazing things can happen. We are all committed to open dialogue and collaboration.

We do the right thing

We always act in an honest, fair and transparent manner. We conduct ourselves professionally and with respect for our job and responsibilities. We are not afraid to say no if we feel something is wrong.

We care

We are inclusive - we respect each other and believe everyone matters. We set high standards for our work and lead by example. We make a positive difference to our colleagues, customers and communities.

We build for the future

We look to the future as we help to achieve the net-zero challenge. We deliver to the highest standards today and welcome positive change in the future. We are open to feedback to keep improving our services and products.

Wellbeing

"We place safety and wellbeing at the centre of everything we do. With many of our field colleagues working remotely, it’s more important than ever that we stay connected and ensure colleague wellbeing remains a priority. That’s why we launched WellCrowd, a simple way for colleagues to share how they’re feeling each day, and for us to better understand how we can support colleagues and improve colleague experience at work. This is our commitment to our colleagues: making sure wellbeing isn’t just colleague responsibility, but ours too."

Neil Armstrong, Director of Field Services

Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAs)

Our trained MHFAs are here to listen, offer support, and help guide you to the right resources if you're facing a mental health challenge or simply need someone to talk to. You don't need to be in crisis to reach out – sometimes a conversation can make all the difference

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Through our EAP provider, Spark, colleagues can access up to 8 confidential counselling sessions for a wide range of personal and work-related challenges.

Support extends beyond employees, with children living at home up to the age of 21 also covered. Spark also provides access to specialist cancer care support, offering guidance and practical help for those affected by cancer, either personally or through a loved one.

Whatever you're facing, support is just a phone call away.

Equity Diversity and Inclusion (EDI)

We champion a workplace where everyone’s welcome. Our commitment to EDI centres on fostering a culture where typically underrepresented or minority groups feel supported valued and empowered to thrive.

Regardless of your role, we want diverse representation at every level of our business.  Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas.  We’re proud to support four employee resource groups, each network champions inclusion, representation, and support for diverse voices across our business.

Led by ExCo Sponsors and Co-Chairs, these groups promote community and amplify voices in accordance with the Equality Act 2010. From International Women’s Day to being the headline sponsor of Wigan Pride, Black History Month and EDI webinars on topics like menopause and neurodiversity, our ERGs host meaningful events throughout the year.
