Minimising meter replacement
We’re cutting the financial strain, unnecessary waste and operational disruption caused by premature meter replacements. One of our core aims is to keep meters on the wall where possible.
Maximising meter uptime
Calisen is dedicated to reducing non-communicating meters in your portfolio by addressing issues as they occur. We enable suppliers to meet the government's 90-day smart meter recovery target. We pre-emptively identify smart metering systems at risk of developing communication issues and advise on how to mitigate those risks.
Establishing new industry standards
We are pioneering an industry-wide standard in meter diagnostics and communication fixes to reduce variability in practice and ensure consistent resolution of meter issues across the sector. Supporting the industry-wide goal of 100% of domestic customers receiving the benefits of smart meters by the end of 2030.

Increasing focus on meter health
Recent reporting shows that 7.7% of meters, or over 3.1 million meters, have communication issues, leading to customer complaints and gaps in consumption data. With increasing installations, demand for meter health services and skill sets is rising.
Evolving communications landscape
In the future, the 2G network switch off means approximately 12 million sites will require their communications hub to be upgraded to a 4G model, to ensure their smart meter remains smart and continues to provide the associated benefits. Solutions are being piloted for new ways of connecting, such as Virtual WAN, which uses the consumer's broadband to establish communications, where the mobile network may not be sufficient.
Cyclical demand for installation
Over 17 million properties* in the UK still require a smart meter installation, including hard-to-convince and hard-to-reach properties. Complex sites will also need more focus and attention, which we can offer. SMETS2 meters will also need the technology update as mentioned above, to ensure they remain compatible with mobile network developments.
